DTI alerts public against Uncertified X’mas lights

ZAMBOANGA CITY (ZNS) -  The Department of Trade & Industry (DTI ) has alerted the public against the purchase of any uncertified Christmas  lights for next month use considering the proliferation of substandard Christmas decoration that could cause fires and/or shocks to user.
The DTI said that there are only about 20 brands of Christmas lights that have pass Philippine Standards for use as decorations.
The  DTI warns consumers against using Christmas lights without import commodity clearance (ICC) marks, as these can cause fire.
These uncertified  sets of  Christmas lights pose great hazards to users  that lead to fire or cause electric shocks.
DTI certified Christmas lights  have passed the required safety tests and inspections by the department.
The DTI officials in this city already advise the buying public  to always check the mark particularly on the  imported Christmas lights that have passed the DTI-Bureau of Product Standards’ tests bear the ICC sticker.
