2 Dads unaware of sources of fund for Zamboanga Festival’s expenses

ZAMBOANGA CITY (ZNS) - At least two city councilors cannot say where the city government sources the  thousands or millions of pesos used to sponsor or spend for the  month long celebration of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival this October.

The festival started first day of this month and will last till the end of the month, although the actual Fiesta Pilar ends on October 12 or on Sunday.

And as  far as the  budget  or money  appropriated for the festivities,  most if not all of the members of the City Council , have no   idea .

In separate interviews,  Councilor Jawo Jimenez and Councilor BG Guingona  can not speak of specifics  on the budget for the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2014.

Jimenez said that in as far as the overall  expenditures for the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival he has no knowledge or idea  as well as where  was the budget get  since it did not pass to the  City Council  for that matter.

While there are budgets for the festival during incumbency of then Mayor Celso Lorbegat, there was no budget approve specifically for the activities for this year, he said.

Jimenez said that maybe after the  Zamboanga Hermosa Festival this matter will be referred  to the City Council  particularly on the budget  appropriation .

Jimenez added that this year celebration  is more on the local government  activities  with not much participation from the  private sectors.

“Most of the activities sponsored by the city government Jimenez said.

On  the other hand, Councilor  Guingona said that maybe the chairman on Tourism Councilor VP Elago  can tell considering  that the celebration  is  with  City  Tourism Office in close coordination with the  Department of Tourism headed by its director ,Mary June Bugante .
