CSWD attends to basics
before IDPs relocations

ZAMBOANGA CITY (ZNS) –The City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) office will see to it that basic facilities for use by evacuees will be in place before they will be transferred to their temporary shelters.

While the government has already constructed 53 bunkhouses, these houses are without bathing and other facilities that will be needed by the evacuees in the site.

The government has already constructed some 500 houses in projects initiated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development and in International Organization for Migration for the evacuees at the Grandstand

There are still about 1,000 families of evacuess houes at the grandstand and these two agencies plan to construct a total of 1,000 houses this year.

Meantime, the city government is using generators to provide electricity to houses occupied by evacuees.

Temporary Shelter Cluster chief Dr. Elmeir Apolinario the use of the generators is because the city still has unpaid electric bills with the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative.


Apolinario said four of these generators are at Masepla, Mampang  while two are a Sitio Bugguc. (zns) (102814)
