Police bar carrying of back packs in areas reserved for festival activities

ZAMBOANGA CITY (ZNS) –The local police force has advised the public against carrying back packs to areas identified for festivities during the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival that started Wednesday and will last until after Oct. 12 or Fiesta Pilar.

Terrorists use bags to hide bombs and explosives that they bring to this city. They also leave bags with bombs in places where they explode these devices in town.

This ban against the carrying of backpacks will help the police and soldiers implement security measures during the festival.

It was also learned that the military will deploy at least 500 soldiers to assist the police maintain law and order for the duration of the celebration. (ZNS) (100314)
