CAAP holds rescue,
firefighting training

ZAMBOANGA CITY (ZNS) – The local office of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) conducted a five-day rescue and firefighting training in this city.

CAAP’s Aerodome Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Fire Marshal Michael Dela Cruz said a total of 35 personnel have participated in the five-day training, which was conducted from Tuesday until Saturday at the Zamboanga International Airport (ZIA).
Dela Cruz said participants were trained on basic rescue and firefighting techniques inside a burning aircraft as well as fire truck maintenance.
Dela Cruz said a fire drill was also conducted to test the firefighting capability of the training participants.
Dela Cruz explained the training is important because the participants were taught on the standard procedures applied in all airports.
He said the training is also in accordance to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Participants of the training were trained by personnel from CAAP-central office. (PNA) (082614)
