More partners support

Build Buggoc Challenge

ZAMBOANGA CITY (ZNS) – The Buggoc Challenge, the housing initiative of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the local government, continues to garner support from various organizations.

This after members of the Rotary Club – North yesterday turned over a total of P370,000 to Mayor Beng Climaco in aid of the project to build temporary shelters for the Sama de Laut in Buggoc, Kasanyangan.
The mayor thanked the service organization for the generosity and support extended to the project as it would greatly benefit Sama de Laut families who were displaced during last year’s siege.
According to City Social Welfare and Development Officer Sokee Acuña-Roxas, the project has already received P510,000 in donation, the bulk of which came from Rotary Club – North.
The list of donors were as follows: Crisanto dela Cruz, Dennis Hardware, Bilrey Construction, Southern City Colleges and Siliman University Alumni Association of Zamboanga City.
The Rotary Club – North donation came from the organization’s various districts and members, such as the Carissmae-St. Paul College Class 68, V. Saavedra Marketing, Inc., as well as their South Korean counterparts Rotary International District 3740, Rotary Club of Gwangyang Huing – Rotary International District 3610, and PP Park Kyoung Hee and family.

The construction of the temporary shelters are underway after civic organizations, private groups and local and national agencies joined IOM and the city government in launching the initiative last week. (Claudine Uniana) (082614)
