parents to join DOH  drive

ZAMBOANGA CITY (ZNS) – A top health official has advised parents with children five years old and below to have their children immunized with anti-measles and anti-polio vaccines.
City Health Officer Dr. Rodelin Agbulos issued the advised as the Department of Health (DOH) launched its month-long mass immunization of children against measles and polio.
Agbulos said the parents can bring their children to the health center or to the nearest health facility in their community to immunize them.
Agbulos said children from nine months to 59 months will be immunized with measles-rubella vaccines and children from birth to 59 months with Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV).
The mass immunization of children is a project of the DOH in partnership with the local government units (LGUs) and is being held nationwide.
For this city, DOH Local Health Support Division chief Dr. Joshua Brillantes said they are to immunize 104,719 children for measles-rubella vaccines and 122,931 children for OPV.
Meanwhile, Agbulos assured they have enough vaccines provided by the DOH for the immunization campaign in this city. (PNA) (090614)
