Activities upped for city

Fiesta Pilar celebrations

ZAMBOANGA CITY (ZNS) – The city government through the City Tourism Office headed by Mrs. Sarita Sebastian Hernandez  is rushing preparation for the obseverance of Fiesta PIlar on October 12,2014   in this city .

The fiesta was celebrated on a low key last year because the celebration happened to be held just as the city was reeling from the rebel attack of Sept. 9, 2013.

The three week war along the shorelines of Zamboanga fronting or beside Fort Pilar forced the city government to celebrate the feast for fear of harm as shooting was still going on in those days.

City Administrator Antonio Orendain Jr . said that  this years celebration will be held at Plaza Pershing and at the Paseo del Mar.

Among the scheduled activities are  the Cosechas de Zamboanga Food Products, Art Exhibits, Golf Tournament intended for the “Balikbayan” who will be arriving in this city sponsored by the City Government of Zamboanga ,the Chavacano Music Festival  and among others.

Orendain said that  fiesta organizers will not use the sports complex or the boulevard for any of its fiesta activities.

Orendain added that the Office of the City Mayor is still in the process  in as far as forming the committees concerned for the Fiesta PIlar FeStival.  (Letty M. Militante )  090114
