DA turned over
4-M fish
landing project to Sibugay
Each project amounted to 2 million and
implemented by its respective LGU with their counterpart of P 222,222.00 which
is more than 10% of the total
project cost.
Olutanga is an island municipality rich in marine
resources like fish, lobster, oyster, the famous taclobo and many more. Fishing
is one of its major livelihood. The municipal fish landing project serves 1,056
fishermen in the area.
Mr. Diosdado Cano one of the fishermen was
relieved with the construction of the fishlanding since this will lessen their
burden in bringing their fishing paraphernalia to their bancas and transporting their catch to the market.
The project will also ease the inconvenience of
pupils who need to ride a banca in going to school.
Meanwhile, one fish landing was also turned over in Alicia.
This municipality is abundant with world class “Sari” fishes such as lapu-lapu,
milkfish, salmon, lobster, tangigue, mantis and crabs that contribute mainly in
the municipal’s economy.
Mr. Pablo Jostan whose income is
dependent on fishing appreciated the project because this will reduce their
transport expense in selling their catch to the market because buyers are now
buying their catch at the fish landing
area.
Aside from the fish landing, the two
municipalities were also beneficiaries of
cassava grater with presser; three units were given to Alicia amounting
to Php180,00 and four units to Olutanga amounting to Php 240,000
The Farmers Associations
(FA) were identified as beneficiaries for the cassava graters with pressers.
The recipients in Alicia were Kawayan FA, Pandan-Pandan FA and Kapatagan FA
and for Olutanga were Gandaan FA, San Isidro FA, Tambanan FA and Solar- I FA. (yavellaneda/DA9)
