Agbulos seeks media’s

help in dengue’s drive

ZAMBOANGA CITY, (ZNS) -City Health officer Dr. Rodelin Agbulos has appealed to media to help in the campaign for the prevention and control of dengue fever as the rainy season approaches.
“My appeal is with the media to assist us and help us in the advocacy and to disseminate the correct and right information about the prevention and control of the dengue fever,” said Agbulos during the press briefing Monday.
As for the dengue cases, there has been a huge decrease in the number of cases last July, as compared to the record in June this year.

According to Agbulos, cases recorded for June this year is comparatively higher than those recorded the same month last year. “But due to the massive cleanliness and advocacy in the barangays, we were able to reduce the cases from (June) 540 to 367 for the month of July.”
He expressed hopes that the city will be able to maintain the low number of dengue cases for this month of August even if heavy rains are anticipated.
Dr. Agbulos also advised the public to search and destroy all possible breeding places of dengue carrier mosquitoes and maintain a clean environment to prevent such cases.

Talon-Talon still ranks number one in the top ten barangays affected with Dengue fever along with Tugbungan, Tetuan, Tumaga, Ayala, Putik, San Roque, Calarian, Baliwasan and Guiwan. (Ella Dee Phuddih Cruz, WMSU OJT/ City PIO) (081214)
