City Health Officer Dr. Rodelin Agbulos revealed
that the barangay has resumed usage of water drawn from the said water supply
after successive testing yielded negative results from bacterial infection.
“Na Limpapa ya pwede ya kita man establish [water
supply] ule,” said Agbulos. “After coming up with successive negative results,
ya pwede ya kita manda resume kanila usa di ila agua,” he added.
Recall that at least 79 people were
hospitalized due to diarrhea resulting from E.coli bacterial contamination
in the water source of Limpapa earlier this month. In response, the CHO
sanitation team provisionally restricted the use of the water supply, and
immediately initiated water treatment measures.
Residents were also advised to boil water before
drinking and taught on proper preparation of sodium hypochlorite solution.
Meanwhile, CHO is also looking closely into
reported incidents of diarrhea in other parts of the City. In the cases of
diarrhea reported in Sinunuc, Agbulos said that investigations reveal that
these cases were mostly due to parasitism and amoebiasis.
In another incident in Ecozone where 18 persons
were admitted to the hospital, the health officer clarified that per the report
of the Department of Health (DOH), this was due to food poisoning. (Jasmine
