DTI readies drive against under

weighted substandard products

ZAMBOANGA CITY (ZNS) -The Department of  Trade and Industry (DTI)  will launch a campaign against the sale of  underweighted products in the  market.

The drive dubbed  “ Timbangan  ng Bayan” will focus against the sale of  sub-standard  products  to include  prime and basic commodities in the city.

Ceferino Rubio of the DTI city office said that under this campaign violators will penalize violators to include confiscation of their goods.

The DTI will also host today,  a seminar,  to familiarize the general public, hardware owners , consumers and contractors  on sub-standard products such as G.I. Pipes – its diameter , thickness and weight.

This campaign  will also include checking the weight of other products like rice, cement ,,sugar and all those product s  particularly those sold by weights  such as kilos, grams  and the like .

Rubio said that the  “Timbangan ng Bayan “   will be in place anytime,

Sub-standard products will be  withdrawn  from the market while  fines and penalties  will also be imposed on the erring establishment owner or proprietor.

Rubio said that  the Standard  on G.I. Pipes  and other mandatory products will be strictly implemented following the conduct of the seminar today . (Letty M. Militante) (081514)
